Only a little time but a lot to explore? This is the ultimate guide for a fantastic 24-hour timeout at the Zurich Oberland on mostly unknown paths.
Off you go
Let yourself be carried away and enjoy a little timeout.
The journey starts at the
Ehriker bakery in Turbenthal, where you will start the day with a delicious breakfast. Enjoy home-made bread and exquisite coffee. Invigorated you will continue your trip to the Schauenberg castle ruin, a contemporary witness of the robber-barons with a fantastic view. Can you see Bachtel mountain and the Schnebelhorn? After a short break, continue the route over Schnurrberg. Don't miss to stop for a bite at the
Schnurrberg Alpine restaurant: the home-made specialities with herbs from the Alpine herb garden simply taste delicious. After the hearty meal, you will start your descent back to Turbenthal.
From the station, you will travel comfortably to Bubikon. Consider stopping at Wila for a guided tour at the
Tablat Vivarium where you will be able to admire the fascinating variety of local amphibians and reptiles (check out the opening hours beforehand). Continue your journey to Bubikon after the informative guided tour. Spend the evening and the night at the charming
Löwen guesthouse in Bubikon and don't miss the opportunity to visit the noble
Ritterhaus before your dinner where you step into the past and find out more about the life of the Order of St. John and the Order of Malta.
We recommend planning a bit more time if you travel by public transport.
