Sound Machine Museum.

«Without music, life would be a mistake…» Friedrich Nietzsche

The sound machine museum at the Dürnten silk factory is one of the largest of its kind in Switzerland and features the whole range of mechanical musical instruments from small cylinder music boxes to orchestrions and huge fairground organs. But there is more to see. Nostalgic merry-go-rounds, a cinema organ from the silent movie area and puppet machines are part of this unbelievable collection of mechanical musical instruments.

The rooms of the exhibition and the organ hall have been designed in the style of the corresponding era like art nouveau, art déco and the Wilhelminian style.

Visit us and get an overview of the development of these self-playing musical instruments. Reminisce about the past with a Charlie Chaplin movie or liven up the time of Rock 'n' Roll and dancing cafés by the sound of the Wurlitzers or the fairground organs.

Smaller visitors may discover the instruments and their history in a playful way and compose their own music accompanied by «Ludwig».
